We are looking for a Grants Officer who will support the management of a portfolio of grant partnerships and collaborate with national and province-based team members to implement a coordinated approach to support program and project delivery and monitoring, and to collaborate with other internal teams to leverage and promote sustainable outcomes of grant programs and funded projects in impacted communities. This often takes the form of project-based funding but can also include training, education, equipment or supplies to support their work in the preparation for and relief and recovery from disasters and other disruptive events. Granting can also be used by other service lines to support the work being done across the Society. The Grants team within Recovery Services manages multiple concurrent grant programs in support of operations and activities across Canada. The Grants Officer will contribute to the development and implementation of granting standards across programs. They will use their granting experience and expertise to champion consistent practices across the country and the Society. The role requires a high degree of personal initiative, flexibility, and willingness to collaborate. This position is suited to someone with proven ability to engage, develop and manage external relationships and is experienced in grant management, administration, and funding. The Officer is an integral contributor in creating a work environment that is a highly productive, team-focused, and results-oriented. As a Grants Officer you will work on: Program Management and Monitoring: Support the grant program(s), as assigned, including contributing to the program launch and orientation of personnel. Contribute to quality control and monitoring of assigned grant programs. Collaborate with program teams to proactively identify issues and solutions that are fit for purpose and aligned to the capacity and needs of grant partners. Maintain tracking tools, logs and master project files to ensure accuracy of program reporting against project tracking data. Support consistent program implementation and practices and foster an understanding of grant practices and standards acrss program teams. Build and foster supportive working relations across national and provincial tams engaged in grant programs. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of grant programs and practices. Project Management: Management of a portfolio of assigned grant partnerships establishing partner relationships and interacting regularly. Ensure grant partners are supported through project implementation, problem solving, change requests, and reporting requirements. Contribute to all stages of the grant management process including organization validation, application assessment, decision paper drafting, contract drafting, processing approvals, developing and implementing project monitoring plans, reviewing reports, facilitating change requests, supporting partner organization relationship management; and coordinating input from subject matter experts into project monitoring. Process requests for payment or invoices for submission, ensuring that all required documentation and approvals are in place. Monitor financial disbursements, payment schedules and funding allocations for the assigned projects in coordination with Finance. Ensure grants processes are implemented effectively and identify challenges in projects as well as recommended adjustments. Where appropriate, actively participate in coordination meetings, internal and external, that supports the implementation of grant programs and ensures alignment with program intentions and CRC work. Contribute to and support linkages between program teams in order to identify opportunities or concerns with cross-sector projects and to build on collaborative efforts. As requested, input to related reporting requirements against programs for internal and external stakeholders. Continuous Improvement: Contributes to the documentation of grant practices, internal tools and resources. Provice regular input and ideas that will contribute to continuous improvement of program processes. Gather program and/or project feedback and analyze informaiton taht will contribute to further deeloping grant methodology and tools Monitor the granting lifecycle to help ensure the process is in accordance with the established system and requirements of the Eligible Costing Guidelines, CASA, Legal, and Risk Management principles, CRC Fundamental Principles, etc. and, provide suggestions and/or technical feedback that will improve processes. Participate in disaster planning, preparation and response, as required and contribute to a healthy and safe working environment. What we are looking for: Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or related discipline from a recognized academic institution. Completion of post secondary education in the area of community development, international development, disaster management, or a related field will be considered an asset. Minimum of 3-5 years of job-related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience . Demonstrated experience in non-profit grants administration and monitoring of grant programs and projects. Demonstrated experience in implementing funding plans with respect to regulations and guidelines. Knowledge of the role of agencies in disaster response and recovery and understanding of the Red Cross and the role of community-based organizations in disaster response and long-term recovery will be strongly preferred. Knowledge of results-based management approaches will be considered an asset. Strong PMER knowledge and experience. Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and comfortable with other technology, including grant management software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in English. French or additional languages are considered an asset. Strong ability in project management working independently with minimal supervision Ability to analyze narrative and financial documentation, solve complex problems, synthesize information, make recommendations in a fast-paced environment Strong communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills to facilitate relationship building within and across teams and colleagues remotely. Shows initiative and can adapt and innovate in sometimes challenging circumstances, in a fast-paced environment. Working Conditions: The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable. Ability to travel inside Canada may be required. This position requires a satisfactory Criminal Records Check required or a satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC). If driving for Society business; a valid driver's license is required with a satisfactory drivers' abstract.
